There are a lot of choices for photography in the Sioux Falls, SD area, and you are wondering how to pick the right photographer. Enter this blog post. Follow these simple steps to find the perfect photographer for your wedding or next session!

Step 1: Decide on a budget. Photography services range greatly for a number of reasons such as, equipment, years of experience, services offered, studio space, ect. Each photographer will have their own price based on services rendered.
Pro tip: If you are utilizing a Facebook group to search for a photographer put your budget in the post as a dollar amount! Some Facebook posts will read “I’m searching for an affordable photographer for 8/2/2025.” But affordability is relative, so adding a dollar amount, it’s so helpful! Example: “I’m looking for a wedding photographer in Sioux Falls for 8/2/2025 and our budget is $3,500.”

Step 3: Inquire with a photographer(s). Most photographers will have an “inquire” or “book” page on their website. There you will find a contact form to fill out, and the photographer will respond (usually by email). If you are inquiring with a photographer who doesn’t have a website, you can try to email them if they have an email address listed or a message on a social media platform.
Pro tip: Wedding dates are booked in advance, usually 6-18 months before the wedding. So don’t hesitate to contact a few different photographers for wedding day coverage.

Step 4: Ask questions! Once you are in contact with a photographer, don’t be afraid to ask them questions if you have them. Some common questions are: How many edited images will I recieve? How do I pay for your photography services? Do you have a studio avaliable for use?

Step 5: Book the photographer who fits your needs best!
